Killer Chocolate Glazed Donuts

  • Servings: 20-24 med donuts
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

  • 1 1/2 cups + 2 Tbsp Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/8 tsp Allspice, ground
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/3 cup Milk, whole
  • 1/8 cup Butter, melted
  • Coconut Oil for Frying
  • Flour for rolling dough

Chocolate Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup or about 4 ounces Semi-Sweet Chocolate
  • 3 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour and the other dry ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, combine the egg, sugar and vanilla until thick. Use a third bowl to melt butter, and combine it with milk. Then pour this mixture, and the dry ingredients, into the large bowl of sugary vanilla eggs. Stir in remaining 1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp of flour. Cover dough, and chill 2 hours.

On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a small cookie cutter, and re-roll as necessary. Meanwhile, heat coconut oil to medium temperature, about 375 degrees. Fry dough for approximately 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden. Turn only once, then remove with a slotted spoon.

Make chocolate glaze by melting butter and chocolate in a pan together on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Stir often and don’t overheat. Once melted, stir powdered sugar into chocolate. Drizzle over donuts, and eat hot or cold!

We’ve found warm temperatures accentuate the cake flavor, while cold temps play up the icing. So amazing! We hope you enjoy!
